WVC at Omak Film Festival 2013
The Wenatchee Valley College at Omak Associated Student Body presents the 2013 Film Festival from Feb. 22 to March 28. The films being featured at the Mirage Theater in Omak include Promised Land, Feb. 22 to 28; Anna Karenina, March 1 to 7; The Impossible, March 8 to 14; Chasing Ice, March 15 to 21; and Amour, March 22 to 28.
The films will play daily at 6:30 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1 p.m.
Admission is free for WVC students with current student ID, and for one guest per each student.
Promised Land is rated R and features Matt Damon and John Krasinski. The film won two National Board of Review Awards. Anna Karenina, rated R, features Keira Knightley and Jude Law, and was nominated for four Oscars. The Impossible, rated PG-13, features Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor, and was nominated for one Oscar and two Broadcast Films Critics Awards. Chasing Ice, rated PG-13, features James Balog, and won a Sundance Film Festival award. Amour, rated PG-13, features Jean-Louise Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva, and was nominated for five Oscars.
The Associated Students of WVC at Omak partnered with Omak Theater two years ago to bring a film festival to the Omak community. The partnership has a goal to bring films that are normally would not make it to the Okanogan, films that are both riveting, captivating, educational and entertaining.
